Spending the last couple of days rigging up a way to transport our bicycles and kayaks in the back of the RV. Looks pretty stable and I think it will work out fine.
We have entrusted our faithful boat, Son Seeker, with a good friend who recently lost his boat in a storm. We know she is in good hands! We will go over the boat with him tomorrow.
Lastly, we will go see the kids and grandkids on Thursday. We will spend some time with my parents in the afternoon and have dinner with the kids in the evening. It will be hard not seeing them for three months, but we can always talk to them.
Our first week will be spent in Breaux Bridge, LA. I remember going to crawfish festivals here when I was young! It will be interesting to see this area as an adult. We plan to spend time on the Atchafalaya Basin and on Lake Martin, weather permitting. It will be February after all.
Retired couple with plans to sail the seas unexpectedly find themselves in love with the RV life. Follow our adventures across the US.

The journey begins
Greetings! My name is Lynette Gillenwater. My husband, Dennis, and I have sold it all to travel the world. Our initial plan was to purchase a catamaran and sail the open seas, but the quick sale of our home required us to make other living arrangements. We purchased an RV to live in until our local land bound obligations had resolved themselves.
Flash forward to today. Obligations mostly complete and freedom is at hand. But we love living in this RV! So we have decided to take some time as land lubbers before sailing into the sunset. We have named our little abode ‘Little Drifter’ after my childhood RV traveling father. He was The Drifter on the CB and my mother was Lady Drifter. Back in the 70’s we all had CBs and communicated with the truck drivers and our friends traveling with us to various camping spots. They even let us kids take the mic a few times. Great memories camping and traveling with family and friends.
Our first adventure will be to leave Port Arthur, Texas and travel slowly over to Florida and spend some time in middle Florida and back to Port Arthur. Don’t worry, we will hit the Keys some day, just not this trip. We will leave on January 31, 2020 and return to this area to spend the month of May.
Now that you know us, let the adventures begin.
