After breakfast we walked back to the RV Park Clubhouse to check on the truck. Dennis is pretty sure it is the battery. Is it just me or do other people remember when your battery slowly went dead back in the day. You had time to get to the store and pick one up before you were stranded. Anyway! I must say, Dennis is such a lucky man, because I kept thinking about this all night and came up with some helpful ways to get through this. I asked him, what if it was your key, we should try my key since it is programmed differently, right? Also, we can always call the insurance company and they can send a tow truck over for free! They can drag us to Wal-Mart or even to the dealership! We can always call Kelvin and he can save the day. But then came my really good idea. Let’s take the battery out of the RV down there and see if the truck will start with that. He humored me and tried my key. It still did not crank. Imagine that! But guess what? Then he installed the RV battery. Tada! It worked! See, he is so lucky to have me. He would never have thought of that on his own, right? LOL! Whatever! I am sure he had it worked out before he went to bed, and didn’t spend all night wondering about it.
Once again we find ourselves at the local Wal-Mart. They had the two batteries we needed. I had no idea a diesel truck had two batteries. The old ones were 36 month batteries and they were dated 2015. I guess we could have checked the dates before we left, but they were on the side, not the top of the battery. The new dates are on the top for us to plainly see and they are 5 years guaranteed, not just 3. I will also put a reminder on my calendar to check the batteries in 2025! Another mishap sidestepped without much difficulty! Yea us!!!
Dennis got back to looking at the camera and disconnected it from the RV. Well crapola! The wires were all burned up! This really could have ended badly. We will check the wiring back there and buy a new, maybe different kind of camera for our rear view. I cannot believe there is no breaker for those wires back there. This is starting to be a ‘what can go wrong on an RV adventure page!’
We got nothing but time. I think I will do some laundry! Laundry is done. The wind has really been blowing today. I have snagged firewood from all the campsites that people left today, (I am so frugal) but with all this wind, I don’t know that I want to start a fire. With our luck . . . So we may see what tomorrow holds and just hang out inside tonight. Goodnight everybody!
