We had a fun day in Bay St. Louis. We went to the tourist bureau and got some information and found that they filmed a 1966 Robert Redford and Natalie Wood movie here. So we did the walking tour of the places they used in the set. We have plans to somehow watch that movie, ‘This Property is Condemned’ while we are here.
Well, our plans changed on that movie. We watched the trailer and it looked too corny to enjoy, so we just nixed that idea.
We visited the Alice Moseley Folk Art Museum while we were at the train depot depicted in the selfie above. She was a school teacher and started painting when she was 65 years old. Reminded me of my mother! Except my mother did not paint folk art, she did real paintings. But I digress! She was an interesting subject, so I bought one of her prints to put a splash of color in this brown RV. ![]() |

We hit the water front and had lunch at the Tripletails on the third floor. We had a great view of the marina and loved the vibe there. But we must give the impression that we like our food straight from the fridge, because Dennis’ shrimp tacos were literally cold, not just no longer hot, they were cold! My bun less burger with Swiss cheese and grilled mushrooms was awesome! Met the owner and enjoyed our conversation with him. The place was very inviting and we would totally go back.

Walking further down the road it began to rain, so we ducked into another bar, Dan B. Murphy’s, so we had to have another drink there. It was also a cool place. You could smell the crawfish cooking in the bar and the second floor was packed with people eating them. Looked delicious, but we just had lunch, darn it. Just next door to them was a place that was really packed. We wondered what we were missing but had to hit the road.

We had a great evening with Ronnie and Songa Gremillion. We met them at their home and got to enjoy the golf cart Mardi Gras parade and catch up before heading out to have dinner at Dempsey’s. The food and fellowship was great. When we left the restaurant Songa wanted us to meet her brother, Monty. He was hanging out at the local dive bar, The Broke Spoke. There were all kinds of undergarments hanging from the ceiling. Aparently, Brett Favre's sister owns the joint and he will drop in on occasion. Not this occasion, darn it! We had a blast with Monty and he must be a local there, I found this sign about him near the pool tables.
Sunday, February 9, 2020:
We started the day off with a Jazz Brunch at the Palmettos on the Bayou restaurant in Slidell, La. It was buffet style and you would not believe the all the food offered. We went with the group from the RV park. Apparently that is a thing they do for the snow birds who settle in these southern parts for the winter. It was a great beginning to a great day.
We left Slidell and cruised by our old home in Mandeville. She hasn’t changed much in all these year, but the area sure has. Would never have found the place had I not remembered the address and plugged it into Google Maps! I wont bore you with a photo of the house.
But we wandered into New Orleans and spent the afternoon people watching and even hit Pat O’Briens for a spell. I have always love the feel of New Orleans and it was a beautiful day to explore the crazy that is NOLA!

Leaving NOLA again and heading back to meet Brian and Crystal Meadowcroft for dinner. Funny story, we had agreed to meet this Sunday evening at The Blind Tiger. When we were wondering the waterfront in Bay St. Louis we found a Blind Tiger there. We had looked it up and found one in Slidell that we were going to meet them at, but turns out Crystal had assumed they would come out and meet us in Mississippi. Good thing I contacted her when I saw the second one or we would have been visiting ourselves in separate locations. We got it worked out and met up, but I never even got my phone out to take pictures :/. What a goof. We had a great time. So fun to catch up with all these folks on our trip. Thank you Brian and Crystal for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit with us, we really enjoyed seeing you guys.
