Weekend in Breaux Bridge

Saturday, February 1, 2020 - We spent our first day in Breaux Bridge running around trying to find a socket that would fit the lug nuts on the truck tires so Dennis could use his pneumatic tools if we ever did run into tire trouble with the truck again.  Having no luck with that, we went to find someone who could repair the tire and put it back on for us.  We are retired, you know, so we don’t get outside ready until almost noon most days.  Apparently, that is when people close on Saturdays in Breaux Bridge, but we found a really nice guy named Reginald in a big box store that helped!  He fixed the tire in two places (there were two nails in the darned thing) and swapped the tires for $15.  But that is not even the best part - Dennis must have given him our sob story about not finding the socket because as we were leaving he shook hands with Dennis and slipped him a socket!  What a guy!  We are ready for anything now!  Or so we thought.

Dennis spent the rest of the evening trouble shooting our rear camera. I think our wi-fi is too far from the rear of the camper where it is mounted.  Anyway, that was not a successful task as it got dark on us again and we had wine that needed attention.

Sunday, February 2, 2020.  Dennis had looked ahead of time and found a place he thought I would love for brunch.  It is called The Little Big Cup.
It is right on the bayou in Arnaudville, just a quick jaunt down the road.  They open at 9:00 on Sunday, so we got there at 9:03 - this lady needed coffee.  Such a cute place, apparently it is a good thing that we got there early, because they actually take reservations and said they had a full restaurant later in the morning.

The brunch is buffet only on Sunday, which is not ideal, but okay.  The Bloody Mary is one of the best I have ever had!  The only competition at all would be the one we had at Moody Gardens one year when some of my girls and I were doing the ‘Gritty Goddess’ mud run there.  Yes, that is a crawfish garnish, whatcha got on your Bloody Mary?

It was a cool place and I would probably go again, but I found it strange that the buffet items were not warm.  Did I tell you we got there three minutes after they opened.  I woulda thought it should be piping hot!  But that Bloody Mary!!!!

So we left there and decided to cruise downtown Breaux Bridge and their many little antique malls. But they weren’t open.  Maybe we got up too early this morning.  Some were actually closed for Super Bowl Sunday anyway.  We just trekked back to the RV and relaxed.  We can go back during the week when they will be open.

Got a message from our buddy Craig that he and Art Lynd are giving our sailboat, Son Seeker, a workout today. It is chilly on the water but barely a cloud in the sky!  Thanks Craig and Art!

Super Bowl party at the RV park is tonight!  We got there around 5pm and Ginny Duplin and Kelvin Franks got there just before kickoff.  There was free gumbo and several people brought snacks. It was a great game with pretty awesome commercials as usual.  Ginny and Kelvin took off before the game ended and so Dennis and I got ready to go shortly after to finish watching in the RV.  Got to the truck and it would not start :( - What the heck is going on around here.  We just walked home.  We will figure that out tomorrow.
